He has performed many ensembles including the Madison Symphony Orchestra, Beloit-Janesville Symphony Orchestra, Warren Symphony, New Music Detroit, West African Dance of Madison (WADOMA), The Gold Coast All Stars, Jeffrey David Goldford, Cole DeGenova, Verzatile, SonoEco, Second State, Simply Put, the Red Quartert. In 2008, Dane co-founded Spectrum Trio with fellow percussionists John Doing and Mike Truesdell. Spectrum has already released a self-titled debut album and has appeared for clinics and performances at the University of Michigan, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and PASIC 2009. In April of 2011, Spectrum had their first midwest tour which included clinics and performances at Lawrence University, Waubonsie Valley High School, Ohio University, University of Toldeo, and Bowling Green State University. In July of 2011, the trio was invited to give a performance and hold a master class at the Juilliard Summer Percussion Seminar, in New York City.

Teacher
Dane has been teaching private lessons, coaching percussion ensembles, and giving master classes for over seven years. In November of 2011, he founded ChicagoPercussionLessons.com where he offers private and group lessons to Chicagoland musicians. Currently, his studio represents a full spectrum of interested students where the youngest is three-years-old and oldest cares not to say. He is also one of two percussion instructors at Grammy Signature School, Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, IL. Before moving to Chicago, Dane was the percussion instructor for both the Ann Arbor School for the Performing Arts and the Sphinx Preparatory Music Institute in Detroit, MI where he worked with young, promising musicians from the greater metropolitan area. He has conducted percussion ensembles and taught master classes at the Wildcat Percussion Camp, Mpulse - Ann Arbor Summer Music Camp, and Pulaski High School Jazz Band Retreat. While at the University of Michigan, Dane coached and quest-coached several pieces with the UM Percussion Ensemble and was also part of over twelve Afro-Cuban drumming seminars for students and faculty of the university. His own teachers include: Michael Udow, Joseph Gramley, Ian Ding, Brian Jones, Anthony Di Sanza, Michael Spiro, Jamie V. Ryan, Robert Schoville, Vadim Karpinos, John Jutsum, Nani Agbeli, Padraic Cassidy, and Vicki Peterson Jenks.

Artist
Dane’s other passion is photography. While he has certainly always enjoyed taking photos throughout his life, he has only recently turned it into part of his profession. Dane’s photographs and illustrations have been used to promote concerts, recitals and master classes. In February of 2010, he won 3rd place in the “As I See It” photography competition held by Arts At Michigan.

Education
Prior to the completion of his Masters in Music at the University of Michigan in May 2010, Dane earned his Bachelor of Music Performance degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with Anthony Di Sanza, on a four year School of Music scholarship. While a student at UW-Madison he was the recipient of the Eugenia K. Schacht Scholarship for outstanding undergraduate music major (05/06) and the Merlyn Donald Eid Award for outstanding music student (05-07). Beginning his sophomore year at UW-Madison, he was the acting Principal Percussionist of UW’s Chamber Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra under the direction of David Becker and James Smith and is a substitute percussionist with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and Madison Symphony Orchestra.
